Ploy Palace Action Plan for Sustainability Prepared by:

Mukdahan High School Project Work Students
 
Step 1 - Education / Training
  1. Hold monthly meeting with all staff to educate and promote awareness of the importance of sustainability for the hotels business. [responsibility of general manager]
  2. Develop an attitude of respect and cooperation with all staff so that their ideas on sustainability can be heard [responsibility of general manager and all staff]
  3. Department managers should share ideas on what their departments are doing to promote sustainability. For example the Food and Beverage manager can share with the Housekeeping manger his system for separating garbage and reusing paper [responsibility of all department managers]
  4. Hold training sessions to teach employees how to safely use and dispose of dangerous chemicals [responsibility of all department managers]
  5. Put signs in guest rooms to encourage using water and electricity conservation. [responsibility of all maintenance manager]
 
Step 2 - Organization and Cleaning
  1. Hold a special Cleaning Day where all staff participate to clean the entire hotel - public and service areas. [responsibility of all staff]
  2. Clean the spider webs in the laundry, electric room and other service areas. [responsibility of all staff]
  3. Electric room should have a safety door with warning sign and be kept clean. [responsibility of maintenance manager]
  4. Organize the garbage system to provide more bins that separate and recycle waste. [responsibility of all department managers]
  5. Provide adequate staffing and procedures for store room to ensure materials are not double ordered or wasted. [responsibility of administration manager]
  6. Kitchen floor, water drain and waste bins should be cleaned. [responsibility of food and beverage manager]
  7. Regularly clean air-conditioning vents. [responsibility of housekeeping and maintenance manager]
  8. Hold a hotel wide maintenance and inventory check once a month. [responsibility of all managers]
 
Step 3 - Resource Conservation
  1. Compost food waste to be used in hotel gardens. [responsibility of food and beverage and maintenance manager]
  2. Investigate how to reuse water for laundry and gardens. [responsibility of housekeeping and maintenance manager]
  3. Replace individual, disposable soap bars in guest rooms with refillable pump dispensers. [responsibility of housekeeping manager]
  4. Plant trees around the hotel that repel mosquitoes (ex rubber trees) [responsibility of maintenance manager]
  5. Use solar cells for lights around the building. [responsibility of all maintenance manager]
 
Step 4 - Community Cooperation
  1. Donate used and broken furniture to charity. [responsibility of administration and maintenance manager]
  2. Place emphasis on buying local products and services (ex. furniture, cotton, menu covers). [responsibility of housekeeping]
  3. Promote your hotel as working toward building a better, safer, cleaner Mukdahan. [responsibility of general manager]
