David Shaffer has 25 years of experience teaching English as a foreign language (EFL).

Dave graduated from The Pennsylvania State University in the U.S. with a degree in education. After going to Korea in the early 1970s to teach, he completed his graduate studies in English linguistics, with minors in Korean linguistics and English literature, at Chosun University, where he has taught since 1976.

At present, Dave is also a columnist for the English newspaper The Korea Herald, where he writes On the Road to Better English for Korean English learners. He also has two other columns on English - Shaffer's Native English in TIME Plus magazine and English Bloops and Blunders in English Teaching/The Internet TEFL Journal.

Dave also answers all kinds of questions about English at the ESL Cafe Help Center.
